Industrial Relations

INDOCON

INDOCON connects every Orchidian to 800+ industry partners, turning the world of work into a campus.

INDOCON

The bridge between campus and industry

INDOCON is Orchid University's industry-connect programme and the working engine behind our "Industry as Campus" model. From our location in Mangan, North Sikkim, INDOCON builds and manages the relationships that keep our curriculum honest, current and tied to real employers. It is the office that turns a partnership on paper into a placement, a live project, a guest lecture and, eventually, a Day One-ready graduate.

Through INDOCON, Orchid University maintains a network of 800+ industry partners across manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, technology, agribusiness, retail and the public sector. This network is not a logo wall. It is an active pipeline of apprenticeships, mentors and problems waiting to be solved by our students.

What INDOCON manages

The programme owns the full lifecycle of every industry relationship, so that academic departments can focus on teaching while students gain genuine exposure to the workplace. Each engagement is formalised, tracked and reviewed against learning outcomes defined by our SEEL Framework.

  • MOUs and partnerships — drafting, signing and renewing memoranda of understanding that define apprenticeship roles, project scope and joint review.
  • Apprenticeship placements — matching students to apprenticeship-embedded degree pathways under the "Learn While You Earn" model.
  • Live industry projects — sourcing real briefs from partner companies and embedding them into coursework and capstones.
  • Guest faculty from industry — bringing practising professionals into the classroom as co-teachers, mentors and assessors.
  • Industry as Campus visits — running structured factory floors, sites and offices as extensions of the lecture hall.

Why it matters for Orchidians

Because INDOCON keeps the curriculum tethered to employers, an Orchid degree is never theoretical for long. Students earn while they learn, build a verifiable track record on real projects, and graduate already known to the companies that will hire them. The "Learn While You Earn" approach means many Orchidians offset their costs through structured apprenticeship stipends rather than carrying that burden alone.

The result is Day One readiness: graduates who arrive at work already familiar with the tools, expectations and people of their industry. For partner companies, INDOCON offers a steady, pre-trained talent pipeline drawn directly from the live work they have helped shape. For students, it is the difference between hoping for a job and being prepared for one. As a UGC Section 2(f) recognised institution, Orchid University builds these connections to last beyond graduation.
