Academic Council
Guardians of academic quality and relevance.
The Academic Council is Orchid's principal academic authority, shaping curriculum, standards and research across all ten schools so that every programme stays rigorous, relevant and industry-aligned.
The Academic Council is the principal academic authority of Orchid University. As a statutory body under the Orchid University Act No. 06 of 2024, it is responsible for the standards, coordination and quality of teaching, learning, research and examinations across the institution.
Chaired within the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sandeep Sharma and composed of senior academics and subject experts, the Council reviews and approves curricula, regulations and assessment frameworks for all ten schools — from Engineering and Technology to Business and Management, Health and Allied Sciences, Hospitality and Culinary, Design and Media, the Liberal and Fine Arts, Heritage Sciences, and Wellness and Vocational Studies.
What the Council safeguards
- Curriculum that reflects current industry practice and our work-integrated model
- Academic standards aligned with UGC norms and Excellence with Relevance
- Innovation in pedagogy, research and continuous learning
- Fair, transparent assessment and the integrity of every degree awarded
Because Orchid's degrees are co-created with industry, the Academic Council plays a vital balancing role — keeping programmes credible and scholarly while ensuring they remain practical and employment-focused. In doing so, it protects the value of every qualification and upholds the university's promise to graduate students who are genuinely Skilled to Lead.
