Orchid University campus

The Orchid University academic year is organised into two principal semesters — an Odd (Monsoon) Semester and an Even (Spring) Semester — each comprising approximately sixteen weeks of instruction followed by dedicated examination and result-processing periods. This structure is designed to interlock with our work-integrated model, leaving defined blocks for apprenticeship, industry immersion and Learn While You Earn engagements.

For an illustrative 2026–27 cycle, the Odd Semester typically opens in late July with orientation and registration, runs instruction through November, and concludes with end-semester examinations in December. The Even Semester commences in January, with instruction through April and end-semester examinations in May, followed by a summer term reserved for apprenticeships, supplementary credits, skill bootcamps and executive modules.

What the calendar covers

  • Semester start and end dates, instruction weeks and mid-semester reviews
  • Course registration, add/drop and fee-payment windows
  • Internal assessment, end-semester examination and result-declaration dates
  • Apprenticeship and industry-immersion blocks aligned to partner schedules
  • Convocation, institutional holidays and Sikkim state observances

Because pathways at Orchid are flexible — spanning full degrees, diplomas, certificates and continuous learning — the calendar accommodates rolling intakes and modular schedules for select programmes. Students are advised to consult the calendar alongside their School and the Examination Cell each term, as specific dates are confirmed and notified annually by the Office of Academic Affairs.
