Sustainability
Rooted in the Himalayas, responsible to the planet.
Set in the pristine Himalayas of North Sikkim, Orchid weaves environmental responsibility into campus life, curriculum and community — preparing graduates to build a greener, more resilient future.
Orchid University sits in one of the most ecologically significant landscapes in the world — the Himalayas of North Sikkim, at Upper Singhik Malling in Mangan District. Living and learning in this environment carries a responsibility, and sustainability is woven through how we build, teach and act.
Our commitment reflects our core values of Compassion Centered and Nation Building: we believe a university must serve not only its students but the land and communities around it. Through our Basic and Applied Science and Agriculture school, and across programmes in engineering, hospitality, design and beyond, students engage with the real challenges of climate resilience, responsible resource use and sustainable livelihoods.
How sustainability shapes Orchid
- A campus designed to respect and protect its fragile Himalayan setting
- Curriculum that embeds environmental awareness and green skills across schools
- Agriculture and applied-science programmes focused on sustainable rural livelihoods
- A culture that asks every Orchidian to be Rooted to Serve their environment and community
By connecting skilling and education to environmental stewardship, Orchid prepares graduates who can build careers and enterprises that are economically productive and ecologically sound — leaders equipped to help their regions, and their country, grow sustainably for generations to come.
